President-elect vows to remain on the side of citizens

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the expectations of the people can only be achieved by listening to them and remaining on their side.

Speaking to PSM News, President-elect Muizzu said that every state leader comes into office with a vision to meet the expectations of the people. He said that this can only be achieved by remaining on the side of citizens, listening to them, and being committed to serve them. He also highlighted the importance of state leaders holding the government accountable, adding that the leaders should be able to answer any inquiries in the name of complete transparency.

Additionally, President-elect Muizzu spoke on strengthening the multi-party system in the country, saying that the political parties should put the interest of the country above their own personal interests. He said that the government will assist in strengthening the financial situation of the parties if the party leaders change their mindset. He added that in a strong multi-party system, the parties would support the positive efforts of the government or present better proposals to the people if they deem the work to be unsatisfactory.

Furthermore, President-elect Muizzu detailed his national development plan and said that he is currently in discussions to eliminate the budget constraints next year. He also said that he will commence the Fushidhiggaru Falhu reclamation project within the first 30 days as part of his efforts to build housing. He added that the reclamation work will be completed between 8–10 months, assuring that his administration will also prioritise the completion of the new terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA).
