MTCC mobilises second phase of Ungoofaaru road dvelopment

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has mobilised the second phase of the road construction project in Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll.

Under the second phase of the project, five main roads on the island will be developed to a modern standard by laying asphalt. These include four internal roads and the harbour road. In addition, the installation of a drainage system, road signs and street lights are also included in the second phase of the project. The project is being implemented at a cost of USD156,939.

MTCC stated that the project is well underway with sidewalk paving works being nearly 98% completed. MTCC also stated that the work of laying the ABC layer before the asphalt layer has commenced.

Ungoofaaru Island Council stated that one of the biggest concerns of the residents and those who come to the island for various purposes is the poor condition of the roads. In an effort to solve the issues faced by the public, the government is working to redevelop the roads in Ungoofaaru.
