Holhudhoo Tourism Zone inagurated

Hulhudhoo Tourism Zone, known as Maafishi, has been inaugurated in Addu City. The ceremony was jointly inaugurated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid and the Minister of State for External Affairs of India V. Muraleedharan, and the Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar.

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Shahid emphasised the positive impact of the four Tourism Zones inaugurated in Addu on the economic development of the respective islands. These zones will create various opportunities for the people of Addu, boost the economy, and attract private investments, transforming Addu into a thriving and modern economic hub in the south of the Maldives. The increased employment opportunities, especially for the youth, in the most promising sector of the economy will have a positive impact on the communities of Addu.

The three Tourism Zones have a total value of USD1.24 million and have been completed under the High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) grant scheme facilitated by the government of India.
