Gov’t to address issues at Magoodhoo School and Health Centre

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the administration will address the concerns of the school and health centre in Magoodhoo, Faafu Atoll. He made the remark during a meeting with the Magoodhoo Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC).

During the meeting, the council members commended President Solih and his administration for their developmental initiatives on the island and also mentioned the assistance they received from their parliamentary representative. The council members also discussed the island's developmental plans, addressing their concerns and expressing their most pertinent needs. Financial concerns, space constraints at the council office, challenges faced by the healthcare centre, the need for coastal protection, and road construction were among the topics discussed, along with exploring potential solutions.

Speaking with the council and WDC members, President Solih provided reassurance that the administration would prioritise addressing the concerns of the school and health centre. He further mentioned that Magoodhoo has been identified as one of the priority islands for future road construction. He added that he will discuss their concerns with the relevant authorities and work towards finding suitable solutions.

Following the meeting, President Solih visited the airport project site where he observed the progress of the land reclamation work. Approximately 40% of the land reclamation work necessary for the project has been completed and the administration has decided to extend the airport runway to 1,800m, ensuring enhanced airport operations capabilities.
