MPL flats to be handed over in April

The Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has revealed that the Hiyaa flats being developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II will be handed over in April.

Speaking to PSM News, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shahid Ali said the delays in the project were due to ongoing work carried out by the contractor. He, however, said the final preparations for the handover of the flats are currently underway. He also said that some of the work on the stairs in the buildings and installing elevators are currently underway.

Additionally, Shahid said that all the interior finishing works of the apartments will be completed by the time the flats are handed over. He said preparations are underway to hand over the flats to the employees in April. He also said that the list of employees who received the flats is being compiled and 85% of employees have already paid the down payment.

MPL is developing three 15-storey buildings exclusively for its employees under the Hiyaa housing project. MPL constructed 534 flats under four categories, which are 204 one-room flats and 330 2+1 flats. The price of the flats ranges from USD52,000 to USD98,000.
