MPS conducting traffic awareness campaign for Ramadan

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a road safety campaign called Fahiraastha to familiarise individuals with road traffic laws and regulations.

The campaign is being conducted in collaboration with MPS, Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and The Hawks Private Limited. The one-month campaign was launched by Managing Director of HDC Ahmed Athif at a special ceremony held in Hulhumale'. The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Mannan Yusuf and other senior police officials.

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among the public on road safety during the holy month of Ramadan. As such, checkpoints will be set up and individuals who drive in compliance with the road traffic laws and regulations will be presented with petrol gift vouchers, vehicle wash gift vouchers, and safety helmets. The event is scheduled to continue until the end of Ramadan. In addition, the Maldivian Red Crescent conducted a scenario on how to provide emergency treatment to accident victims.

Under the Fahiraastha campaign, information will also be given to school students and office employees. The traffic sign boards on the roads will be repaired and billboards containing road safety information will be installed in various regions in Male' and Hulhumale'.
