President revolutionised transport system: Transport Minister

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula has stated that the transport system in the Maldives has undergone revolutionary changes under the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate Faresmaathoda Airport, Minister Nahula highlighted the changes in the transport system of the Maldives over the past four years. She also said the most important task to strengthen the governance system in the Maldives is the establishment of a good transport system.

Additionally, Minister Nahula said that the long journeys by sea in the past have been replaced by the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service and a system has been established to travel easily throughout the country. She said the economic prosperity of the islands have increased and many jobs have been created with these facilities. She also said that the economy of the Maldives is moving rapidly and the residents living in the northern and southernmost regions of the country are benefiting equally.

Furthermore, Minister Nahula said that with the development of the airport in Faresmathoda in Huvadhoo Atoll, will account to the largest number of airports opened in the same atoll. She said it will bring many unprecedented jobs and financial and economic benefits to the atoll.
