Children’s Ombudsperson’s Office launches toll-free number

The Children's Ombudsperson's Office (COO) has launched a toll-free hotline number to submit complaints.

COO stated that the toll-free number can be called by dialing 1656 and that it was launched to commemorate its two-year anniversary. The purpose of the hotline is to make the submission of complaints more easily accessible to the public. Individuals can anonymously submit complaints through the hotline or via email, letter, or by visiting the COO.

COO is tasked with the protection and promotion of rights ensured under the Child Rights Protection Act. The ombudsperson is also responsible for making sure the relevant state institutions act in accordance with the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of the Child. As such, the ombudsperson is responsible for monitoring and evaluating staff at the institutions tasked with protecting children's rights and carrying out inquiries on any violations.
