Action taken against Civil Court Chief Judge for undermining justice system

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has taken action against Civil Court Chief Judge Abdulla Ali after he was found guilty of undermining the trust in the justice system.

JSC said Judge Abdulla Ali nullified a Civil Court order when an individual asked to postpone the date he was asked to be at a court hearing as he was asked to attend a hearing at the Magistrate Court on the same day. JSC decided the nullification of the Civil Court order undermines the trust in the justice system.

JSC revealed therefore it has been decided to issue a reprimand against the judge, advise and order him to complete mandated training.
