Ministry of Health has revoked the licenses of healthcare service facilities that had not re-registered.
The health ministry stated healthcare service facilities were required to re-register after the implementation of the regulation on operating healthcare service facilities in 2021. The ministry noted that some healthcare facilities were operating without re-registering, despite the ministry opening applications for registration and licensing twice. As such, the ministry has revoked the licenses of healthcare facilities that have not requested re-registration.
The regulation on operating healthcare service facilities was introduced to regulate healthcare facilities in the Maldives. The regulation provides guidelines on registering healthcare facilities and issuing licenses. It also provides operational guidelines for healthcare facilities to ensure the health and safety of patients.
Healthcare facilities that fail to submit requests for registration and licenses before the deadline will be banned from providing services and will have to pay a fine between USD3,000 and USD65,000.
