PGO has huge role to play in success of ACC

Prosecutor General (PG) Hussain Shameem has stated the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has a huge responsibility in bringing a successful outcome to the work of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

In a blog post, PG Shameem congratulated the newly appointed members of the ACC and said the PGO will give its full support and assistance, as it is responsible for the success of the commission. He said the PGO will be the number-one supporter of the ACC and that the commission will always be welcome to utilise the human resources of the PGO to bring a successful conclusion to its cases.

Additionally, PG Shameem said investigative authorities probe cases in an unbiased manner and expressed hope that he will be able to work well with the newly appointed members of the ACC to end corruption in the country. He also assured assistance for the new members to conclude the existing cases.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed new members to the ACC following the resignation of the previous five members, amid the dismissal motion launched against them at the Parliament of the Maldives. The dismissal motion was launched by the Parliament citing their failure to complete the investigation of cases submitted to the commission.
