President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed new state ministers to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community and Empowerment and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
As per the announcement issued by the President’s Office on February 27, Mohamed Nasih Rasheed was appointed to the post of Minister of State for Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, and Mohamed Aneel was appointed to the post of Minister of State for Islamic Affairs.
Prior to his new appointment, Mohamed Nasih Rasheed was serving as a Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment. Mohamed Nasih Rasheed had previously served as the President of the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Council and held the position of member of the council. He completed his Diploma in Project Management and holds an Advanced Certificate in Youth Development. He is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Shariah and Law programme.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Aneel pursued higher education at the Islamic University of Madinah in 2012, where he attained his Bachelor in Islamic Shariah. He is currently enrolled in the Masters of Islamic Studies programme at the Maldives National University (MNU). Prior to his appointment as the new State Minister for Islamic Affairs, Aneel served as the head imam of Hithadhoo in Addu City.
