Male’ City Council begins renovation of 32 mosques ahead of Ramadan

Male’ City Council has commenced the renovation of 32 mosques in the city ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

Male’ City Council is responsible for the maintenance of 42 mosques in Male’ City. The city council revealed renovation has commenced in 32 of these mosques, with the scope of work ranging from plumbing repairs, reconstruction of damaged areas and cleaning. The city council said the renovation works would cost about USD 893,000.

As part of the efforts to renovate mosques, the city council has issued an announcement seeking parties to install CCTV cameras in mosques. The council said CCTV cameras are being installed due to the increased theft in mosques.
