Government to submit 36 bills to the parliament

The Attorney General's Office (AG Office) has revealed plans to submit 36 bills to the Parliament of the Maldives in the first session for 2022.

AG Office has published a list of bills it wishes to submit to the Parliament, in accordance with the parliamentary regulations. The parliamentary regulations state the government is required to send a list of bills it plans to submit to the Parliament before the start of a new session.

The list submitted by the AG Office consists of 15 new bills and 21 amendment bills. The new bills are related to defamation, providing state assistance, health services, civil aviation, and the ban on the use of chemical weapons.

The amendment bills are related to the Maldives Drug Act, Anti-Terrorism Act, the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Act, and the Judicature Act. It also includes amendments to the law against gang violence, and the law against intimidation using sharp and dangerous objects.
