The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has stated there is no difference in the final results of the parliamentary by-election for the Komandoo constituency in Shaviyani Atoll.
The final results confirm Mohamed Rashid from the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) won the seat with 1,441 votes. As per the results, Moosa Fathuhee Adam from the opposition Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) received 1,161 votes, while Abdul Hannan Idrees from Maldives National Party (MNP) received 323 votes.
The by-election for the Komandoo constituency was held due to the passing of the late Parliamentarian Hussain Waheed who had been representing the constituency as a member of MDP. ECM stated result-changing complaints have not been filed for the by-election.
The permanent results of the Komandoo parliamentary by-election will be announced on January 8, as well as the results of the Women's Development Committee (WDC) by-elections held in Gemanafushi, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, and Vilufushi, Thaa Atoll.
The results show an independent candidate won the Gemanafushi by-election, and a candidate from the MDP won the Vilufushi by-election.
