Ministry of Islamic Affairs has begun accepting complaints for the register of the poor and needy.
The Islamic ministry stated it has responded to all the registration forms submitted by residents in Male', Hulhumale' and Villimale' before December 30 last year. The ministry stated that complaints regarding the registry can be submitted before February 13.
Each year, individuals are open to submit forms to be registered in the register of the poor and needy or submit complaints. The register allows easier endowment of Zakat, which is an annual payment under Islamic law on certain kinds of property and used for charitable and religious purposes. The register also allows the government to provide assistance to the poor and needy.
A total of 1,520 individuals were listed in the registry of the poor and needy in 2021.
