India businessmen able to arrive to Maldives without Visa

The Government of the Maldives has arranged for Indian nationals arriving in the Maldives for business purposes to stay in the country without a visa for a period of 90 days.

The changes were made under the visa agreement signed with the Government of India in December 2018, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The policy came into effect on February 1, 2022.

Following the arrangement, Indian businessmen can apply for an extension of their visas even if they arrive in the Maldives without a visa for a period of 90 days. As such, business visas will be extended for 180 days. The foreign ministry said those who wish to extend their visas will be able to apply for an extension from the business portal of the Ministry of Economic Development before the expiration of the three-month period.

The visa agreement between the Maldives and India is a reciprocal agreement. The ministry revealed all Maldivians travelling to India will now receive on-arrival visas.
