Sri Lanka eases restrictions for travellers

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed the Government of Sri Lanka has eased travel restrictions.

The foreign ministry stated Sri Lanka has made changes to the travel measures imposed on January 31, 2021. As such, travellers to Sri Lanka are required to obtain a landing permit if they are travelling without a valid visa or travelling outside of the tourist route.

Individuals travelling by the tourist route are required to adhere to the instructions posted on the Sri Lankan government's travel website and obtain approval from the Electronic Travel Approval (ETA) system. Travellers with residence visas are required to obtain an entry visa prior to their arrival.

Furthermore, all travellers are required to obtain a negative PCR test result 72 hours prior to their arrival and have their vaccination cards with them. Travellers are required to have the mandatory COVID 19 Insurance of USD 12 with one month cover of USD 50,000, whether they are fully vaccinated or not vaccinated. They are also required to submit the health declaration form online and obtain the QR code.

The foreign ministry urged all Maldivian travellers to Sri Lanka to adhere to the changes in travel measures and be informed of any updates prior to travel.
