President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conveyed greetings of the 74th Independence Day of Sri Lanka.
In a tweet, President Solih conveyed greetings and felicitations of the Independence Day of Sri Lanka to the President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa and the people of Sri Lanka on behalf of the people of the Maldives. He wished a bright and prosperous future for Sri Lanka and expressed confidence the long-standing, brotherly relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka will continue to strengthen in the coming years.
Sri Lanka gained independence from British rule on February 4, 1948. Maldives and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations on July 26, 1965.
