President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated healthcare workers would be the next profession to receive improved wages, following the increase in the wages of teachers and educators.
Speaking at a campaign event held in Komandoo, Shaviyani Atoll, President Solih said the administration will be working on the necessary research and studies to implement the increase in healthcare workers’ wages this year. The president noted similar to the research on wages in the education sector, this research will help to classify the categories of healthcare workers and establish a systematic improvement in their wages. He added the target of the administration is to improve public well-being, which begins with the lives of every individual.
During the presidential address delivered at the Parliament of the Maldives for 2022, President Solih announced the wages of teachers and educators will be increased by 56% starting from May.
