Maldives National University (MNU) has appointed Asiya Ibrahim as the Dean of the School of Nursing for a second consecutive term.
Asiya Ibrahim was reappointed to a new four-year term in office as the Dean of the School of Nursing, during a ceremony held at MNU on January 30. The appointment letter was signed by Vice Chancellor of MNU Dr. Mohamed Shareef.
Speaking at the ceremony, Asiya Ibrahim said the plan for the upcoming four years includes increasing undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities at the School of Nursing across different campuses, and the commencement of the PhD studies and further specialisation courses. She also revealed plans to upgrade the new nursing tablet and to commence mental health and community nursing.
Asiya Ibrahim had previously served in several positions at MNU, including Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and the Head of Department. As the Dean of the School of Nursing, she has overseen the expansion of the school from 900 students in 2018 to 1,100 students as of 2022.
