Fenaka to develop an ice plant in Komandoo

Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture has contracted Fenaka Corporation Limited to undertake the development of an ice plant in Komandoo, Shaviyani Atoll.

The agreement for the project was signed during a special ceremony held on January 30. The agreement was signed by Managing Director of Fenaka, Ahmed Saeed Mohamed, and Financial Controller at the fisheries ministry Eenash Naseer.

The fisheries ministry revealed the ice plant in Komandoo will be able to produce 25MT and store 50MT of ice. The ministry said Fenaka has been contracted to complete the development of the ice plant within 6 months. The project is conducted under the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP) budget.

The government is undertaking several projects to develop ice plants across the country, to ease the difficulties faced by local fishermen in acquiring ice. As such, 13 ice plants are currently under development across the country.
