Ministry of Tourism has revealed 97.5% of the resort employees in the Maldives have completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the weekly tourism update report published by the tourism ministry, 97.5% of resort employees have completed two doses of the vaccine and 99.5% of employees administered the first dose of the vaccine. In addition, 6.5% of resort employees have received the booster dose.
A special priority has been given by the government to the industry under the vaccination programme, as tourism sector employees are those who directly work with tourists arriving in the Maldives. A total of 152 resorts are operating in the Maldives with a total of 41,431 employees.
The tourism ministry and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have launched a campaign to ensure the whole tourism sector is vaccinated. As such, stakeholders aim to make the Maldives the first country to establish a fully vaccinated tourism industry.
