Police desk established in Dhevvadhoo

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has established a police desk in Dhevvadhoo, Gaafu Alifu Atoll.

The new police desk in Dhevvadhoo was inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed during a ceremony held on January 27. Speaking at the ceremony, Home Minister Imran said the establishment of the police desk would enable the residents of the island to receive a reliable, trustworthy police service. He added the residents are expecting a strong, and reliable service from the police, and the police are expecting to receive the full support and cooperation from the public in maintaining law and order in the island.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed said the main objective of establishing a police desk in Dhevvadhoo is to establish a peaceful, safe society in the island. Noting the establishment of a police desk alone is not enough to achieve this goal, the commissioner said MPS is continuously bringing the necessary structural and functional changes to strengthen its services across the country.

The ceremony held to inaugurate the police desk in Dhevvadhoo was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Mannan Yoosuf, the South Police Regional Commander and senior officials of MPS as well as officials of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Council and Dhevvadhoo Island Council.
