President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated the democracy established in India continues to inspire hope for countries around the world. He made the remarks in a message posted to convey greetings of the 73rd Republic Day of India.
In his message, President Solih conveyed greetings and good wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India on the occasion of India’s 73rd Republic Day. He added India’s republic, its democratic institutions and constitutionalism continue to inspire hope for democracies the world over.
India is one of the closest development partners of the Maldives. The bilateral ties between India and the Maldives have grown significantly stronger under the administration of President Solih.
