Foreign Minister conveys solidarity with UAE

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has conveyed strong solidarity with the UAE following the deadly attacks on Abu Dhabi International Airport, which resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to several civilians.

Over the telephone, Minister Shahid spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and personally conveyed his sympathies during the difficult time. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Maldives to the global fight against terrorism.

Meanwhile, in the press release, the Government of the Maldives also stated such a cowardly act of terrorism targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure clearly violates international law and imperils the security and safety of civilians and travellers to the country. The government stated it reaffirms its solidarity with the UAE against those threatening its security and further commends the constructive role of the UAE in bringing harmony, peace, and security to the entire region.
