The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned the deadly attacks on Abu Dhabi International Airport in the UAE, which resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to several civilians.
The government made the statement in a press release published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following drone strikes on the airport, which had set off explosions in fuel tanks that killed three people and injured six.
In the press release, the government stated such a cowardly act of terrorism targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure clearly violates international law and imperils the security and safety of civilians and travellers to the country. The government stated it reaffirms its solidarity with the Government of the UAE against those threatening its security and further commends the constructive role of the UAE in bringing harmony, peace, and security to the entire region.
It also stated the Maldives is fully committed to the fight against terrorism and will continue to work closely with the international community in eliminating the global menace.
