The President's Office has extended the application deadline for the vacancies at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The President's Office has requested interested parties to submit applications, along with relevant documents, before January 31. Application forms will be available at the reception of the President's Office and are available to download from the website of the President's Office.
The opportunity to submit applications was opened following the resignation of five members of the commission. The members of the ACC submitted their resignation amid the dismissal motion launched against them at the Parliament of the Maldives. The Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions passed the decision to dismiss the incumbent members of the ACC on December 26 last year.
The three members who had remained in the commission until the decision, President Mariyam Shiuna, Vice President Fathimath Anoola, and member Aishath Abdulla, resigned following the decision. Two other members, Ibrahim Shakeel and Ali Ashraf resigned from the commission upon the commencement of the dismissal motion at the Parliament.
The Parliament had commenced proceedings to dismiss members of the ACC citing their failure to complete the investigation of cases submitted to the commission.
