Ministry of Education has revealed over 90% of students eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine have completed the full dosage.
Last year, the government commenced a vaccination campaign in schools for students aged 12-17. The education ministry revealed 32,358 students from 218 schools have completed the full dosage, including 21,133 students in atolls and 11,225 students in the Greater Male’ Region. This represents 90.1% of the eligible student population.
The education ministry further revealed 36,029 students have completed at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This includes 12,923 students in the Greater Male’ Region and 23,106 students in the atolls.
Students aged 12-17 are administered the Pfizer vaccine, authorised by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Students are administered the vaccine by their respective schools. Parental consent is sought before administering the vaccines to students.
