Cabinet deliberates on plans to roll out COVID-19 vaccine booster shots

The cabinet has held discussions on plans to roll out COVID-19 vaccine booster shots in the Maldives within a short timeframe.

During the cabinet session held at the President’s Office on January 11, discussions were held on measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, which has accelerated in the Maldives over the past few weeks. The cabinet held deliberations on easing the process of PCR testing and rolling out booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine to the public. As such, the cabinet held discussions on ways to roll out the booster shots to the whole population within the shortest possible timeframe.

Ministry of Health had earlier announced plans to roll out the booster shots to the general public within this month. Over 27,000 people have already received the booster shots, with shots mostly administered to elderly and high-risk individuals.
