Maldivian Aviation Academy begins classes

The newly established Maldivian Aviation Academy has officially commenced classes.

The Maldivian Aviation Academy, inaugurated on December 28, 2021, is a collaboration between Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL), Maldives National University (MNU), and the Czech Republic-based Flying Academy. The academy is operated under a joint venture between IASL and MNU and is based in Gan International Airport in Addu City.

Speaking to PSM News, Deputy Managing Director of IASL Aishath Jennifer said classes of the academy have commenced online, upon receiving permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Maldives. Jennifer said classes are conducted by experts from the Czech flying academy, adding students will be using the latest learning management system throughout their studies.

Maldivian Aviation Academy began classes with 35 students in its first batch. The first batch includes student pilots of the Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) that was previously operated in Gan, who have had to discontinue their training for a variety of reasons.
