Applications open for vacancies at ACC

The President's Office has opened applications for vacancies at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The President's Office said the application forms are available from its reception and can be downloaded from its official website. Interested individuals are required to submit their applications by January 17.

The opportunity was opened following the resignation of five members of the commission. The members of the ACC submitted their resignation amid the dismissal motion launched against them at the Parliament of the Maldives.

The Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions passed the decision to dismiss the incumbent members of the ACC on December 26, last year. The three members who had remained in the commission until the decision, President Mariyam Shiuna, Vice President Fathimath Anoola, and member Aishath Abdulla, resigned following the decision. Two other members, Ibrahim Shakeel and Ali Ashraf resigned from the commission upon the commencement of the dismissal motion at the parliament.

The Parliament had commenced proceedings to dismiss members of the ACC, citing their failure to complete the investigation of cases submitted to the commission.
