Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has revealed it provided over 900 legal counsels during 2021.
As per its annual report, AGO had provided legal counsel to 921 of the 960 cases received from state institutions last year. Inclusive of cases carried forward from 2020, the AGO provided legal counsel in a total of 983 cases in 2021.
Counsel provided by AGO in 2021 include 33 counsels on bill ratification, 278 counsels on signing agreements, 180 counsels on regulations, 34 counsels on policies, 5 counsels on conventions and 453 counsels on other matters. The highest number of counsels were provided to Ministry of Finance, with 231 counsels.
Since Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath took office, the AGO has been publishing statistics of the legal counsels provided by the office on an annual basis. The AGO also publicises information on major cases which are of public interest.
