Ministry of Tourism has handed over the project to develop a city hotel in Manadhoo, Noonu Atoll.
The agreement was signed between the Ministry of tourism and Stone Hotels Maldives Private Limited. The agreement was signed by the Permanent Secretary Fathimath Nilfa and Director of Stone Hotels Maldives Abbas Mohamed. The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Parliamentarian for Manadhoo Constituency Ahmed Haaroon, and other government officials.
The scope of the project includes developing a land area of 132,000 square feet. The hotel, which must house at least 50 rooms, is to be developed and completed within 30 months.
Parliamentarian Haaroon expressed the residents of Manadhoo have been envisioning the project since 2010. He said the project will create job opportunities for the youth of Manadhoo while staying on the island with their families. The tourism ministry revealed the project will be completed before July 2024.
The administration is working hard to develop local tourism in all inhabited islands of the Maldives. In this regard, efforts are underway in collaboration with island councils, women's development committees, and stakeholders of the tourism industry.
