Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated the administration is working to promote dignified lives for every citizen on their respective home islands. He made the statement on a special appearance on a special edition of the morning show of Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu (DRA) aired as part of its 59th-anniversary celebrations.
On the radio programme, Vice President Naseem spoke about the efforts of the administration to improve opportunities for children with disabilities, especially the visually impaired. In this regard, the vice president also spoke about some of the policies of the administration, stating that the future looks bright with the implementation of the decentralisation policy of the administration.
The vice president also spoke about his personal and professional life, sharing his childhood memories and experiences from his time in school. As such, he shared his childhood passion for sports, especially volleyball, and spoke extensively about the need to integrate physical activities into the education system.
Speaking on the road to success, Vice President Naseem named familial kinship as something that should be cherished. He also spoke with and shared his thoughts with some callers, including family members, friends, and members of the public.
DRA, the first broadcaster and the first radio channel in the Maldives began its broadcast in 1962. The first transmission of the channel lasted a mere four minutes. The day also marks the commencement of broadcasting in the Maldives.
Since its launch, DRA has been disseminating news, current affairs, and general information to raise public awareness. Throughout the years, the radio station has remained foremost in informing the public and has also played a major role in connecting the people during national disasters and events. For over half a century, the station has remained a leader and the public informer in providing news, educating the general public, all the while bringing a variety of entertainment programmes for all genders and age groups.
The radio channel is run as part of the Public Service Media (PSM), the company operating all the state-owned radio and television channels, along with other mediums of mass media.
