State Trading Organisation (STO) has looked for agents to sell goods available in STO People's Choice in the islands.
STO stated the decision was made to empower small and medium-sized enterprises, to provide different brands of goods available from STO in atolls, and to widen the business of STO. STO has given individuals until the end of January to express interest in becoming an agent.
STO said individuals registered with the Ministry of Economic Development can apply to become an agent. As such, STO will appoint an agent from each atoll. As per the policy of STO, the appointed agents can only sell goods in the atoll they are appointed to and in an atoll that does not house an agent.
Furthermore, STO revealed agents will be categorized and online businesses and established shops also have the opportunity to become an agent. STO noted when selecting agents priority will be given to parties which currently do business with the company.
