JSC nullifies suspension of Criminal Court Judge Faiz

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has nullified the suspension of Criminal Court Judge Hussain Faiz Rashad.

Judge Faiz was suspended over the investigation of a leaked audio in which Criminal Court judges allegedly admit to being influenced to sentence former President Abdulla Yameen to prison.

JSC stated Judge Faiz was suspended after the forensic analysis conducted by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) found that one of the voices in the audio matched his voice. However, JSC stated MPS has now submitted a digital forensic case report prepared by the digital forensic department of the Malaysian Ministry of Communication and Multimedia, which concludes that the voice in the audio does not match that of Judge Faiz. Therefore, the commission stated it has decided to nullify his suspension.

JSC previously stated the result of the analysis shows the voices in the audio clips do not match that of Criminal Court Judge Ali Adam or Drug Court Judge Mohamed Sameer. The commission stated it has decided not to pursue further investigations regarding the judges, as they have been falsely accused.

It also stated the analysis has shown that the three audio clips submitted to the commission were tempered recordings, with parts of the clips having been deleted and rearranged.
