USD 1 billion spent on Aasandha in 10 years

Managing Director of Aasandha Company Limited Mariyam Shafeeq has stated USD 1 billion from the state budget has been spent on the services provided by the company in the past 10 years. She made the remarks while addressing the function to mark the 10th anniversary of the national health insurance provider.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director Mariyam said 300,000 individuals receive healthcare services each year through Aasandha. She said 60% of individuals use Aasandha to receive medical treatment, while 31% use the health insurance scheme to receive medicine, and 5% use the scheme to travel for medical reasons. She also noted the changes made to the national health insurance scheme since its inception and said that the company focused on minimising waste of funds in the past three years, as well as working to provide faster services.

Furthermore, Managing Director Mariyam highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for individuals, as well as strengthening the public healthcare system, especially in the atolls. She also acknowledged the achievements of Aasandha in the past three years, including being able to provide its services within 10 minutes for emergency cases.

At the function, Vice President Faisal Naseem officially launched the mobile application of Aasandha. The application allows customers to browse the detailed history of the services they have received through Aasandha, including prescriptions and medical costs.

Aasandha stated the purpose of the application is to provide full and transparent information regarding its services, and that complaints can be made through the application. The mobile application is available on the App Store and Play Store.
