The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) has issued registration certificates to seven firms to conduct audits on Public Interest Entities (PIEs).
CA Maldives registered the PIE Auditors at a ceremony held at the seminar hall of the Auditor General's Office. The registered firms will now be able to conduct audits of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and PIEs.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of CA Maldives and the Auditor General of the Maldives Hussain Niyazy highlighted that the registered PIE Auditors are firms that hold specific standards, and possess competence that complies with applicable professional standards. He also emphasised that these licenses enhance the quality and credibility of the audit firms.
Previously, only three audit firms were permitted to conduct audits of PIEs in the Maldives. A list of registered PIE Auditors is available on the website of CA Maldives.
