Arabiyya School PTA reassured by President's commitment

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Arabiyya School has revealed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has shown his commitment to prioritising Arabic-medium schools in the Maldives, following his decision to develop a new building for the school.

The decision was made following complaints from parents who expressed concern over the safety of students attending Arabiyya School due to signs of wear and tear found at the premises, including large structural cracks on the building.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had met with members of the PTA of Arabiyya School to discuss the issue. During the meeting, President Solih announced the decision to construct a new building for Arabiyya School in the land plot of old Jamaluddin School in Male' City.

Ministry of Education has decided to temporarily transfer students of Arabiyya School to the MTCC Sawmill building, which had previously housed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The building is currently being renovated to accommodate the staff and students.

Vice President of the PTA Aishath Shadhiya said the issues in the school were caused by negligence but that President Solih has reassured the parents and students of his commitment to solving the problem. However, she said they can only become hopeful once the construction of the new building begins and that transferring Arabiyya School to the MTCC Sawmill building is only a temporary solution.

Adhaalath Party has also praised the government's decision to temporarily transfer the students to a new location and construct a new building for the school.
