Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted harbor development project in Gahdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu atoll to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The project consists of repairing and developing a modern harbor. The agreement of the venture was signed by the Permanent Secretary at Planning Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed Didi and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim.
The project includes the complete renovation of the harbour. The project also includes the construction of 232 meters of outer wall and 35 meters of revetment. The harbour is being constructed with a small bridge to connect the land and the outermost part of the island. It is a 26-meter-long and 2-meter-wide bridge.
In addition, the pavement will be made in an area of 1,600 square meters and harbour lights will be installed at the harbour to make it easier to use the harbour at night. The project was contracted to MTCC to be completed within one year for a cost of USD 2.48 million.
The government has contracted harbour projects in several islands of the atolls to MTCC. The company has commenced work on 62 projects.
