Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has opened the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the list of eligible voters for the Komandoo constituency by-election.
ECM has published the list of eligible voters for the Komandoo constituency by-election scheduled for February 5, 2020. The voters’ list has been published in the Government Gazette, the commission's website and the Komandoo Constituency Council Office in Komandoo, Foakaidhoo and Maroshi in Shaviyani atoll.
ECM said complaints regarding the list of eligible voters can be submitted until 1400 hours of January 02, 2022. ECM revealed complaints regarding the voters' list will be accepted by email; [email protected]. Further, ECM said complaint forms will be available from the commission's website and the councils' secretariat.
Komandoo constituency by-election is being held following the demise of Parliamentarian Hussain Waheed. A member must be elected to the parliament seat within 60 days of the vacancy, according to the Parliamentary Elections Act.
The main ruling party, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and the Maldives National Party (MNP) have expressed interest in contesting for the vacant seat.
