Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated Maldivian student pilots training in the Philippines are safe and generally in good health following the typhoon that hit the Southeast Asian nation.
The foreign ministry stated efforts are ongoing to assist Maldivian students in the Philippines, who are in difficult circumstances following the typhoon. As such, the ministry said the situation of the Maldivian pilot students in Philippines are being monitored closely to ensure they are receiving emergency food, water and other basic supplies. The ministry added the students are safe and generally in good health.
Over 75 people are reportedly dead after Typhoon Rai hit the Southeastern region of the Philippines. The typhoon is the strongest to hit the Philippines this year, and has disabled communications and left millions of people without electricity in the affected areas.
