Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has revealed Singapore will allow Maldivians who received both COVID-19 doses to enter the country without undergoing quarantine. The decision was made in accordance with the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) agreement between the two countries.
The transport ministry stated the VTL agreement was signed after discussions with the transport ministry, Ministry of Health, and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). Under the VTL, Maldivians who received a COVID-19 digital vaccine certificate from Health Protection Agency (HPA) will be able to travel on the designated VTL flights, after they receive a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours before travel.
Maldivians travelling to Singapore are required to register at a special portal beforehand.
The number of COVID-19 cases has decreased in Singapore since October, from 3,000 daily cases to 500. Around 80% of the eligible population in Singapore are currently vaccinated, and 10% have received a booster dose.
