Civil Court and Drug Court have decided to not go to recess.
Civil Court was scheduled to go to recess from December 1-20 and the Drug Court from December 9-31. However, the two courts have decided not to go to recess for the second time this year in December. Drug Court stated it made the decision in order to avoid stalling court cases during the ongoing public health emergency in the country. Drug Court had also not gone into recess in December last year.
Supreme Court went into recess on November 30 after concluding the appeal into former President Abdulla Yameen's prison sentence over money laundering charges, overturning the prison sentence and setting him free.
Meanwhile, Family Court announced it will be in recess from December 16-31. Family Court stated court trials will be reduced during the recess period but it will continue reviewing cases, granting marriage licenses, and conducting administrative work.
