Maldives discusses enhancing education services with Pakistan

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has discussed enhancing education services with the Federal Minister for Education, Professional Training and Heritage of Pakistan Shafqat Mahmood. The two ministers held the discussions in a meeting on the sidelines of the 14th General Conference of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO).

During the meeting, Minister Aishath and Minister Mahmood discussed ways in which both countries can collaborate to enhance educational services. The two ministers also noted the importance of capitalising on distance learning in the education sector, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, Minister Aishath also delivered a statement as the Head of the Maldivian Delegation at the conference. She highlighted the educational challenges Maldivian schools are facing post-COVID-19.

Meanwhile, State Minister for Education Aishath Athiya was appointed Vice Chairperson of ICESCO at the conference. The Maldivian delegation at the conference also included Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan.

ICESCO is an international non-profit organisation emanating from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), specialising in the fields of education, science and culture.
