Education Minister encourages high achievers to become teachers

Minister of Education Aishath Ali has stated high achieving students should become teachers for the development of the education sector. She made the statement in her speech at the award ceremony for A' Level Top Achievers of 2019.

In her speech, Minister Aishath said the high achievers awarded at the ceremony are students who will contribute to the country using their knowledge and experience. She also highlighted the importance of teaching and said it is the most rewarding career for any student and is the key to building future generations. The success of teachers at the start of their career is based on the level of their education, added the minister noting the education sector needs more highly educated individuals who have a love of learning.

Furthermore, Minister Aishath said countries such as Finland and Singapore place great value on teachers and that many young people in those countries pursue careers in teaching. She also noted individuals who contribute to society are those who are able to use their knowledge and experience for the service of their country.

The minister highlighted the importance of contributing to the country instead of focusing on status and wealth. She added the secret of success is to pursue one goal and overcoming challenges that come one's way.
