Gov't working on providing salary increments for education sector

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced the government is working on revising the remuneration structure for the education sector and providing salary increments from the state budget next year.

Speaking at the Special Assembly held at Rehendhi School to mark the beginning of the new academic year, President Solih acknowledged the immeasurable contribution of teachers to the nation, affirming that the state recognises the hard work of the education sector employees.

Teachers carry out one of the government's most significant pledges, which is human resource development, according to the president. He also emphasised the necessity of providing greater incentives for educators, as they are the key to imparting the ideals that would address the most pressing societal issues in the country.

Additionally, President Solih highlighted the importance of the public's readiness to participate in the COVID-19 vaccination programme. He said the Maldives has now successfully reached a new normal, as signified by the reopening of schools and the resumption of regular work hours at offices and businesses.

Furthermore, the president highlighted the Maldives is one of the few countries that have opened schools and begin teaching and emphasised that despite reaching the new normal, citizens should remain vigilant against new COVID-19 variants.
