The President’s Office has opened applications for the position of Chief Statistician. This position is open for application as the deadline to appoint the Chief Statistician as mandated by the Maldives Statistics Act expires on August 18, 2021.
Application forms can be downloaded from website of the President’s Office. Applications will be accepted from the President’s Office on the August 10 and 11, from 1000hrs to 1230hrs.
The Maldives Statistics Act was ratified by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih last month. The act lays out the guidelines for the collection, analysis, usage, and publication of national statistics, under an established national standard. The act aims to collect relevant data regarding the country's economy, ecology, and social aspects, and use that data for the benefit of all citizens.
The act stipulates the establishment of the Maldives Bureau of Statistics, which is an independent entity mandated with the planning and operation of all national activities related to the field. The law would transfer all resources, legal obligations, and staff employed by the previously created National Bureau of Statistics to the new body.
