Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology has introduced a hotline for complaints regarding internet services.

The ministry stated the hotline is part of the efforts of the government to improve the overall experience with internet usage in the Maldives and that customers can call the hotline on official government working hours.

Increasing the quality of internet services in the country and making the services affordable is a key pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

As part of the changes to internet services implemented on July 1, the government has reduced the price of residential packages by 28-30 percent and set the lowest throttle speed to 2 megabits per second. The government has also set the throttle speed for packages over USD 19 to 5 megabits per second.

The changes implemented on July 1 have reduced the internet service prices for around 70% of the population. The changes also include reducing the price of mobile data allowance by 20%, which will be implemented in October.
